Dongfeng eπ008 Range-Extended Version — Comfortable Driving, Worry-Free Long Journeys
Compared with pure electric models, the biggest highlight of the eπ008 range-extended version is undoubtedly its 1.5T turbocharged engine serving as a range extender, delivering a maximum power of 108 kW and peak torque of 210 N·m. It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack from CALB, while the drive motor produces up to 200 kW and 340 N·m of torque. According to official data, the vehicle offers a CLTC pure electric range of 210 km, a combined CLTC range of 1,300 km, fuel consumption of 4.7 L/100 km in a depleted state, and a fast-charging time of 0.43 hours.
The Dongfeng eπ008 range-extended version delivers a very smooth launch, without any abrupt acceleration. Thanks to the newly developed Dongfeng Mach Super Range-Extender system, power delivery is linear and stable—responsive when needed, yet not overly aggressive—making it well-suited for family use.
During acceleration, the 1.5T range-extender-specific engine, with a thermal efficiency of up to 45.18%, continues to provide steady and sustained power even at higher speeds. The power output remains seamless throughout, with no noticeable jerks.
Especially in Sport mode, the vehicle responds more quickly, but the overall sensation remains smooth and progressive. For drivers seeking a more intense driving experience, the acceleration may feel relatively mild.
When lifting off the accelerator, the regenerative braking system engages smoothly, without a strong dragging sensation, which helps improve overall range. As for braking, the pedal travel is relatively long. In the initial phase, braking force may feel soft—particularly in emergency situations, where drivers need to anticipate earlier and apply more pressure. Under normal braking, clear feedback only becomes noticeable after about one-third of the pedal travel, with braking force then building in a linear and consistent manner. This setup may require some adaptation.
The chassis tuning leans toward comfort while maintaining resilience. When driving over rough roads or speed bumps, the suspension effectively absorbs vibrations, keeping the body stable. At higher speeds, the vehicle also maintains good composure without feeling floaty.
The steering provides clear feedback with precise directionality, allowing drivers to control the vehicle with ease. However, the steering effort is relatively light, which may slightly affect the driver’s perception of steering precision—especially at high speeds or during quick lane changes.

From the side, the eπ008 presents smooth and dynamic body lines. The straight roofline, combined with a small rear quarter window at the C-pillar, not only visually elongates the vehicle but also provides third-row passengers with a more open view, reducing any sense of confinement. The lower character line adds a subtle sense of motion, while the chrome trim strip running from front to rear further elevates the vehicle’s luxurious appeal.
