The Tank 300hi4-T is priced at RMB 60,000 higher than its fuel version. Some might argue that the extra RMB 60,000 could cover fuel costs for several years, while others may say, “Why not just go for the 400 version for an additional RMB20,000 ?” As an owner of this version of the Tank 300, let’s explore this further.

Aesthetics
Those familiar with World of Warcraft might recall the saying, “Strength can be patched, but style is forever.” Aesthetics vary from person to person, but for those who like the rugged look of the G-Wagon but can’t afford it, the boxy design is the most stylish choice for an off-roader. The popularity of boxy vehicles in the market indicates that many people appreciate this aesthetic.

Scarcity
The plug-in hybrid version of the Tank 300 was highly anticipated but was limited to 3000 units by the manufacturer. Despite the growing number of Tank 300s on the road, making them as common as taxis, the green license plates of the hybrid version still turn heads, satisfying a small vanity for “limited edition” items.

Product Performance
As a functional vehicle, the fuel version of the Tank 300 has two drawbacks: relatively high fuel consumption and sluggish acceleration. Compared to my previous vehicle, an old standard-wheelbase BMW X3 with an N20 low-power engine, the Tank 300hi4-T excels. My old X3 had a 0-100 km/h time of 8.6 seconds and a combined fuel consumption of less than 11 liters per 100 km. The Tank 300hi4-T, however, boasts a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds and a fuel consumption of less than 9 liters per 100 km, making it a worthy upgrade. Additionally, those who think BMW, Benz, and Audi (BBA) have more “face value” likely don’t own a BBA themselves. Modern electric vehicles also outperform mainstream fuel cars in terms of app integration and human-machine interaction.

What does the hybrid Tank 300 offer? A vehicle that meets all scenarios: daily commuting in pure electric mode, fully equipped, with a fuel consumption of less than 10 liters per 100 km when the battery is low, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds, and proven four-wheel-drive capability and stability. All this for 270,000 yuan. Can you find another vehicle that offers the same? No, you can’t.

Drawbacks
Of course, the car has its shortcomings. First, since only 3000 units were produced, the manufacturer is unlikely to provide OTA updates in the short term. So, if there’s a system logic issue or if other Tank models get updates, you’ll just have to be envious. Second, due to the limited production, many aftermarket parts are not compatible with this model. Even finding suitable floor mats can be inconvenient. Third, the battery pack reduces trunk space slightly, and the car’s system occasionally lags, especially right after starting. Additionally, in terms of small features, it falls short compared to the 400 version, but considering the 20,000 yuan price difference, it’s a compromise.

Conclusion: The first batch of 300hi4-T owners likely got the best version. If more units are produced next year, they will probably be limited, or if mass-produced, they might have reduced features to protect the sales of the 400 version. If the cost of electric components decreases, will all hi4-T models drop in price? In short, the Tank 300hi4-T is an excellent car worth owning. Best wishes to all Tank owners for realizing their dreams.
